The room was super comfortable and modern. It was clean. And they put everything you could need there. Also they host you with tea and coffee that you could make in your room and also water in fridge. Also the staff were very nice . They kindly delivered my luggage before check-in time and one of them called Marlys was super gentle and explained me everything about what I could see during my visit in Florence and restaurants bars and tours.

Hotel Calimala is a true gem in the heart of Florence. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the impeccable service, stylish design, and attention to every detail. The rooms are spacious, cozy, and full of character, with breathtaking views of the city from the windows. The location is absolutely perfect – just steps away from Florence’s most iconic landmarks, shops, and restaurants. The rooftop restaurant and terrace offer a magical setting to enjoy dinner while overlooking the beautifully lit cityscape. Staying here wasn’t just accommodation – it was an unforgettable experience that we can’t wait to relive.

Wonderful stay in Florence. The staff impressed us with their service. A warm thank you to the receptionist Cosmin, who showed and told us everything we should see. The rooms were clean, breakfast was simple but tasty. The biggest surprise was the happy hour where they serve you wine and prosecco for free :) Many thanks!

FAQs about hotels in Tuscany

A Divine Comedy for Body and Soul

From ancient origins and Etruscan traditions, to tasty food and sandy beaches, Tuscany is the wonderful birthplace of Dante and home to the genius of Leonardo’s work. A place that makes you fall in love with culture and the art of living.

Tuscany has endless stories to reveal: little picturesque towns like San Gimignano contrast with coves and beaches in the Follonica Gulf and Argentario Mount. The scenic green hills near Siena, Elba Island and Napoleon, the opulence of Forte dei Marmi, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Arezzo, Lucca...it's packed full of things to see.

Heavenly angels lift the soul in beautiful churches decorated with skill and art, while back on earth, luxury Tuscany hotels and restaurants feed the body with indulgent servings of the best Chianina meat, the tastiest olive oil, and countless bottles of Chianti or Brunello.

The best of Florentine Renaissance art is packed into the Piazza della Signoria, Galleria degli Uffizzi and the magnificent Duomo cathedral. When looking for hotels in Tuscany, near Florence there are guest houses and B&B’s where you can still soak up the tranquil atmosphere and the beautiful landscapes captured in famous paintings of nymphs and deities.

Booking.com has some great hotel deals to enable you to enjoy and discover a rich experience of senses and ideas, and to fill your body and soul with divine Tuscany!

There are plenty of beautiful museums and palaces, and you need at least 2-3 days to see some of them. Of course, it is still not enough time to see everything, but enough to be overwhelmed by their beauty and history. If you don’t like visiting museums, probably, it is better to find another place for your holiday, because there are so many tourists in Florence, that the centre is overcrowded. Nice to know that the first Sunday of every month the museums are free, which can help to save a lot. Also the Florence Cathedral is not open for visitors on Sundays, but there are three services during the day. The architecture of Florence is amazing! I wish I could visit this city not once, but many more times.

Lots to see in the main square. As well as the Leaning Tower, there is the Baptistry, Cathedral and the possibility to walk the length of the old city wall. There are also some interesting museums etc. It's very nice to walk along beside the River Arno.

The narrow streets reveal something special at each turn. A very easy city to navigate, particularly after a climb up the Duomo Clocktower. I was entranced by many of the old shop fronts, with attractive Art Nouveau/Art Deco designs, carefully preserved like most of this magical city. A short train ride to Pisa provided an equally engaging day trip

Was not impressed with the city and expected more given all the review I read online. My disapointment could be due to the fact I visited in February, so off season. I booked two nights but decided to only stay for one and left early. Even though I booked a room in the central part of the city I did not feel safe walking the streets at night.

    A very attractive town.

A very attractive town. The beaches are superb, but unless you head out of town you need to go into a beach club. There are no free access beaches in town. Some hotels have an arrangement with a beach club for free or discounted access for guests, so it is worth checking this if you intend to use the beaches. It can cost typically EUR30-40 for 2 chairs, a sunbed and an umbrella. They don't offer reduced rates until 3-4pm. That will add up after a few days. The restaurants are OK but nothing special. Most of them serve the same food, which can get boring. We ate in our hotel restaurant more than we usually would, but the quality and variety of food on offer was better than any outside restaurant we tried. Apart from the beach, shops and walking up and down the promenade, there is not much to actually do in Viarregio, so you may want to get out on some day trips. Pisa and Luca are accessible by train, although we found them both to be disappointing (especially Luca - what a dump!). We found the train service a bit hit and miss, although it is cheap. Consider hiring a car if you plan to get out of Viareggio. If you pick up and drop off at the airport, it will also be useful for airport transfers.
