- From US$160.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 135 reviewsWe stayed on the top floor in an apartment facing the ocean. I think it was number 8. It was perfect. We could cook our own meals in the well equipped full kitchen. It was well laid out to sleep a family of 4 and the beds were comfortable. We slept so well because of the black out blinds and lapping ocean just outside, My 22 year old daughter enjoyed using the trampoline and we both enjoyed the hot tub and having our meals on our balcony overlooking the beautiful view, The hosts were also lovely and very helpful with suggestions as to things to do. it was well located to walk and drive to different sites to visit in the surrounding areas. A nice bonus is it also had Netflix to relax at night with a movie, Because of the lack of noise and light pollution, star gazing was at its best. I would highly recommend this property.Guest review bySylvieCanada

Whitianga is a lovely town and felt more relaxed than Whangamata but had all the facilities you would need. The coastline around the area is just ridiculously beautiful. Whitianga was a great base to explore from. I would happily go for another visit.Guest review byDebraAustralia - 10.0

Such a lovely town & so much history in the town.Lovely train ride at the River Creek driving range & also the friendly people we spoke to. Lots of lovely shops & to sum it up it is a great place to stay & get around. Thanks.Guest review byRobynNew Zealand - 10.0
We loved it.
We loved it. The grandkids loved the playground by the mall area. We had a great time at the Goldmine experience and fully recommend this as they were very informative and something different to see. Everything was close by with ample parking which made it easier to get around. Wea made our meals although meal delivery is possible. The ocean is also close. Would love to come back to Thames at some pointGuest review byLyndaNew Zealand - 10.0

At this time of the year it was pretty quiet but we had our 2 granddaughters with us and the slow pace was nice. We ate at the RSA and everybody enjoyed their meal We stayed at the Tasman Holiday Park - Waihi Beach and it had a lot of facilities for the people.Guest review byArthur JohnNew Zealand - 10.0
Hahei is a cute little place, ideal for a 2 night stay.
Hahei is a cute little place, ideal for a 2 night stay. Hahei has a beautiful beach and you are also very close to Cathedral Cove and Hot Water beach so it’s a great location. Both these spots are a must when you are visiting Hahei. We walked to Cathedral Cove from our apartment. It took us about 40 min and is a pretty steep incline for the first half of the walk but worth it for the views. We took the water taxi back from the cove to Hahei which was a quick but very fun trip. Hot Water beach is a unique experience. Take your shovel and be sure to check when low tide is before you make the trip over there. The Pour House in Hahei is a great spot to sit and have a drink outside. Their pizzas and fish & chips are also great. There are several other spots for breakfast and coffee too that are also great.Guest review byJulieUnited States - 10.0

My weekend trip in Whangamata was fantastic, I honestly wished I had gotten to stay longer since it's such a lovely town. The beach, which is great for surfing and walks, is a huge part of the town, so staying near it is important. Whanga Bar Surf Views, where I stayed, had perfect beach access so I'd highly recommend that home.Guest review byReilly - 10.0

Liked its central quieter location within easy distance of Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, Cooks Beach and Whitianga to which we did day trips. Eatery's were adequate, enjoyed the Gemstore and browsing other shops, peple friendly. On the way there and back enjoyed a drive out to Bowentown, visiting Athenree Hot Pools at the Campsite, and the mining Museum in Waihi was enjoyed by our 8 and 13 year old grandies.Guest review byChristineNew Zealand - 8.0

We tried to get to Hotwater beech, but were slightly late for low tide and could not stay longer for the evening one. We did not expected to spend long time for digging a hole for ourselves as we didn't have a shovel and we heard that place could be very overcrowded. So it was mainly a quick glance on the popular spot :) But we enjoyed another sightseeings nearby.Guest review byIuriiNew Zealand - 10.0
It is my hometown.
It is my hometown. I was here for a funeral of a very good friend. Most of the local haunts are still going but the old identities have long gone. Very pleased to see that the mining company fraternity support the town both in the hospitality industry and directly.Guest review byMcKenzie - 2.0
No real drawcard, except the beach.
No real drawcard, except the beach. Restaurants almost non-existent, no shopping or acitvites really. The township and streets are very dark at night, nothing to do but walk on beach and look at empty wealthy holiday homes on dark streets that do not provide good safety lighting. Not a town I will visit again. Overpried and underwhelming. Much prettier beaches elsewhere. Not friendly at all.Guest review byjaneAustralia
