- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 343 reviewsWe had a great time in Bay of Island Beachhouses. The apartment is very modern and fully equipped with everything you need during your holiday: it has a great, comfy double bed, super and very clean bathroom with separate toilet and a fantastic terrace with a stunning view to the bay. The closest beach is approx. 5 min walk, Paihia center is a bit longer walk but still manageable without car. Theo, the host was very kind and helpful from the minute we got there.Guest review byAndreaHungary

Everything is within walking distance, and everyone is so friendly. Jimmy Jacks is awesome to eat at, food is amazing. Our husbands went out on a fishing charter, great experience they enjoyed it. Recommend Big Fish for the charter.Guest review byReeves - 10.0
This last minute get away was one of our best short trips...
This last minute get away was one of our best short trips yet. We stayed at the Avalon Resort, which is one of my favourite places we have ever stayed. I could have stayed for much longer. It just has the best vibe. down to the amazing host, Location and the rooms are just beautiful, (all have your own private decks) check in simple & easy. Makes you feel at home. We also enjoyed the Horse Trek at the DriftWood Seaside Escapes the next morning, about 40 minutes from the town centre. Milli is just amazing catered to my 2 young children and made us all feel so comfortable. the location of the Trek is just an amazing bonus. also the friendly dogs who come along for the Trek. The views are breath taking and Milli and her team are just the best! Our little stay in KeriKeri has to be the best short trips we have taken for a long time. we can't wait to come back. if your looking for a affordable Resort Bali vibe stay with your children or some alone time this is absolutely the place to stay. If you want to do something a little different check out Driftwood Seaside escapes and go see Milli for an exciting Horse Trek Through the Forest, down to the beach and through beautiful bush.Guest review byAnyaNew Zealand - 6.0

Kaitaia is exactly how you find it - unpretentious, with all the stores you need to make your stay comfortable. Do support all the local businesses - get your nails done, purchase some books, dine out, visit the Saturday market!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
NZ's first European settlement and seaport so full of...
NZ's first European settlement and seaport so full of history and beautifully kept old buildings including a church still with bullet holes from times gone by. Lots of lovely bays (Helena, Teal, Oakura, Tapeka) and beaches within easy travelling distance but the closest with great swiming is Long Bay beach a few minutes over the hill from Russell. Great coffee can be had there too! If you want to do day trips, take your car on the car ferry at Okiato to Opua and head north to Paihia, Waitangi, and Kerikeri - all close by. Further north there is Mangonui, Cable Bay and Doubtless bay all overlooking the water and rather beautiful as is all the area. Russell has some great restaurants, cafes, supermarket for food and the usual tourist type shops plus you can catch the passenger ferry to Paihia for a few hours to check out their cafes too. We stayed 4 days and having our own car, found plenty to do while out exploring and sight seeing.Guest review byIbhappiNew Zealand - 4.0
This was a memory trip, so it was the first time.
This was a memory trip, so it was the first time. SORRY, I had to mention the incident, but wiser to leave it. Now you wanted a report, I only mentioned it in case something was wrong and could happen to somebody else. It has gone no further. You have done well in the decorating, and perhaps we will come again CaroleGuest review bycaroleNew Zealand - 10.0

Mangonui is gorgeous - fabulous walkway, unique art & gift shops, great eating - Breakfast at Jesse's was huge & delicious. It is also handy to all the East Coast beaches - the north is always a favourite trip down memory lane for us.Guest review byShirleyNew Zealand - 10.0

Access to main area within walking distance, area for kids to play, plenty of cabins, you had your own area, next time would get one with all facilities and preferably the first one on the right as you enter.Guest review byPaul - 10.0
Great beach and good location to explore the far North area.
Great beach and good location to explore the far North area. We took a bus tour up to Cape Reinga which was a real highlight and explored nearby Cape Karikari in our car. We ate our dinners at Mangonui, a 5 minute drive from Coopers BeachGuest review byAndrew - 10.0

Taipa has the lovely resort and beach, but there is not much else. However, Taipa is part of a gorgeous stretch of coastline including Cable Bay, Coopers beach and Mangonui. Within a few kilometers you have all the amenities you need, plus local attractions and shopping. There is the Famous Mangonui Fish shop over the water, a couple more lovely cafes, places to buy local art and craft, a walkway and pa, a picaresque harbour and opportunities to get out on the water. Go!Guest review bybethNew Zealand - 2.0

Facilities described on the website were all closed except the golf course. the pool was closed but even had it been open the description of "an infinity pool" was 100% wrong it was old and dirty with awful paintwork and there was no infinity aspect at all.Guest review byandrewNew Zealand
