AustriaAn extraordinary Boutique Hotel, very chic and tasteful in every detail.Nothing was missing. The welcoming, kindness and excellent hospitality of the owners was just above and beyond. The room had a kitchenette with all necessary utilities, a Nespresso Machine, and every day a “ goodie”, Chocolate or a cookie. Craig, Vicki and Janet were the most helpful and friendly people, giving valuable information and helping with reservations. I can highly recommend 14 Lane Hotel. Location in the middle of the town center of Blenheim.

FranceWe are very fortunate inasmuch as we are able to travel extensively and currently live overseas. This hotel is, Hands Down, the best hotel we’ve ever used.
From the second we walked in the door it was obvious the D’Urville was going to be different. I didn’t know where to look first as the decoration is so fabulous.
We stayed one night only unfortunately.. our room surpassed all expectation ..then a pre dinner drink in the cocktail bar which was delicious and another visual feast !
And dinner…completely amazing food which took us to new places! Love the ambience created which I interpreted as being in a Rudyard Kipling book!
I’ve run out of superlatives!
Apart from the coffee the breakfast perfect … but now I’m being picky!

IrelandThis is a very small hotel (only 3 rooms) which only adds to its charm. Its location in the centre of Picton is an additional benefit as it is only a couple of minutes' walk from shops and nearby facilities.The old world style of decor ,the large rooms which are spotless and supremely comfortable has to be experienced. The restaurant is closed for evening meals , but the welcome touch of a wine and cheese plate is a unique touch. Breakfast is offered and sets you up for the day ahead.
I would love to stay here again.

The room was lovely - double bed and a 2x bunk. Kettle and coffees and teas were provided. Fresh fluffy towels too. Communal kitchen was spotless. The shower and toilet block was immaculate and a powerful refreshing shower too. Theres a tv lounge, even a swimming pool, large outside chess board, kids area and bbq area. Picton is a beautiful place on a sunny day or the warmer months. There's plenty to do if you like the outdoors. It's very kid friendly with a great wee water park and playground. Stunning location in a lovely rural setting. Abundance of wild birds in a beautiful garden setting containg fruit orchards. A very relaxing B & B where the hosts have added so many little extra touches eg chocolates beside the bed, M&Ms, good selection of teas. There is a pub about 2 miles away which serves stunning renowned beef burgers. Jill and Peter were wonderful hosts. The Portage was a lovely place to stay, the views were amazing and the staff extremely helpful. We were dissapointed about only 1 restaurant being open, and therefore not a large selection to choose from. We would recommend asking in advance, if they can make up a sharing platter, as this is not on the menu, and when we asked, they mentioned we should have ordered in advance. The beautiful view from the deck totally lends itself to drinking and grazing on a delicious platter. The kids loved the kayaks and paddle boards. Lochmara Bay has so much to see and do and has beautiful scenery. Peaceful and quiet if you don't mind the odd speedboat or jetski. Lochmara Lodge is a fantastic option for people stopping in from tramping on the Queen Charlotte Track or visiting by boat (20 mins from Picton) - the accommodation was excellent as was the food and activities on offer. They even take your bags boat to door and back! Activities include roaming the stunning gardens with unusual forest artwork, enjoying the wildlife in the forest and marine life from the viewing boat, feeding the animals, kayaking, swimming when warm enough, lying in the hammocks!!! I loved the remoteness of where we stayed, yet the sense of being safe and looked after by the locals. The views and natural environment are sublime. The only permitted way to get here is currently by boat as the road has been damaged by a storm and is only allowed to be used by residents' and service vehicles. This makes it very safe to walk up the road to tracks into the wonderlands the area has to offer. The walks vary from fairly easy to somewhat taxing. Some of the tracks have a challenging gradient if you are not used to walking, and would be more difficult if they are wet. Having said that, we are 'senior citizens' with average fitness and we managed to summit the Onahau lookout (416 meters / 1368 feet) above sea level) and return in one piece.Guest review byTomNew Zealand - 10

This was probably the best stay for us in New Zealand. Sylvia and her family gave us warm welcome and made us feel like home. Spectacular views from their property and we had everything we needed for. The property was very clean.
