The location is spectacular. The terrace outside room 15 has astonishing views The hotel is small, quiet and well run. The staff speak Portuguese French and English. There are parking spaces just next to the hotel You can easily take a walk along ancient cobbled roads among cork and chestnut trees.

From arrival to departure, the quality of service was impeccable. We were greeted by very knowledgeable and polite staff who gave us a tour of the area, followed by welcome drinks at the top of the building's tower. Our room was spacious, comfortable and sunny. The room, and the whole establishment were very clean and there was bottled water available, mostly for free, everywhere. The food at the restaurant was great, and reasonably priced for the type of establishment. The wine and wine tasting were incredible!

The hotel and grounds are really cute! It is family friendly, our room was really nice, everyone (staff) was super helpful and nice to us and the kids. I don’t think there are many rooms and because all guests have different routines, a lot of the time it felt like we had the place to ourselves, including the pool!

A hidden gem in a beautiful mountain village. We booked this last minute as a stopover for one night and regretted not staying longer. A small, cozy, family run hotel. An amazing location and example of how to enhance and restore the history and culture of the area. Rooms in the main building were large and bed comfortable. Fortunately we received an upgrade which made the stay even more enjoyable. The spa area of wet and dry sauna and jacuzzi looked out over the landscape and were a warm welcome after the day exploring the area. The buffet style breakfast was great. One of the best Vila Gale locations I have stayed in. The ability to wander around the location and experience the falconry, horses and talk with the students makes you appreciate the location even more. We will return!

I love this place, it was very quiet and clean. Staff was polite and always with a smile. There was free coffee and tea at any time. My room was comfy, good speed internet, lots of hot water and a lovely bed to rest. There is TV screen with many national and international channels.

    It was one of the best stays I have ever had. The atmosphere was wonderful, in the middle of the vineyards on a beautiful property. The accomodation itself was very, very beautiful as well - small scale, beautifully designed, very nice swimming pool and pretty building altoghether. All the staff were very friendly and we appreciated the small wine tasting that came for free with the booking. The breakfast was great and we also enjoyed dinner at the property one night, which was great as well. It is a very nice place to relax and to explore the vineyards here and in the area.

    The hotel is gorgeous and we had a very pleasant stay, though it was short. It's in a renovated monastery with olive tree gardens, the view from our big room was fantastic, and the inner courtyard next to the breakfast room is fabulous (not to mention the breakdast itself). We would definitely come back for a longer stay because there are many nice places to visit.

    This area is good for many side trips.

    This area is good for many side trips. I would recommend visiting Marváo in the morning; then Cascata Trail de Marvão in the afternoon with a little side trip to Espanha (while in the area). I would also suggest a visit to the Museu da Tapeçaria de Portalegre - Guy Fino and having dinner in Castelo de Vide.

    Not much in the town itself except for the unique tapestry museum - a must see. And an outstanding restaurant on the far southern (?) edge of town. There are easy excursions to two nearby castle towns well worth seeing.

    from avis there are many places to visit wine tours castles / cities to discover - Evora / Estremoz carpet making cities - Arraiolos everything is within half an hour drive it is a very peaceful town though - so choose casa moira as you will need a place to relax with dining facilities A must is to visit clube nautico near to avis amazing food and water sports on the river

    I know the village, as I was born and raised in another small village nearby, Seda. It has everything you need from shops to bank, pharmacies, swimming pool , cafes, petrol stations and it is very close to a main road, A23, which can take you everywhere in Portugal. Perfect if you look for a place where you can switch off your brain from work for a few days. When there try a wonderful delicacy called Tecolameco, divine.

    The hotel is very well located in the town, it has excellent parking and great views out over the surrounding countryside. I found the staff were very helpful in where to go & visit and provided annotated directions on a local map. During my visit the restaurant wasn't open but there are plenty off options in the town

    Marvão is a small village high on a mountain, with a view that's enough to make you climb. It's a shame there aren't more entertainment, restaurants, and bakeries that would allow you to spend more time in the village. The castle is worth a visit.

    It doesn't have much to do.

    It doesn't have much to do. If you are going to relax and be in nature, it can be great. But we were expecting to find more leisure options, like water sports and hiking. You can go on your own and with your own equipment, but we couldn't find companies who provide them. Also, there are not many restaurants to pick.
