We had a great stay here. Our hosts were welcoming, and cooked us a really delicious dinner and breakfast. They also organised bikes and tuktuks for touring the old city. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, with working internet and wifi, and the location is great - only 5min from the old city, and a 5min walk to the lake for an epic sunset. Recommend!

The quality and dedication of the staff, from the lady at the front desk, to the young man who saw after me and especially to the manager, Shiyam Chamilsha. He went over and beyond to address my many requests and regularly checked in with me to see that I was comfortable and whether i needed anything. Any requests/concerns I had were addressed within a couple of minutes. He made sure that he and one of his staff would be available for breakfast if I happened to be needing breakfast earlier than 7am. The grounds are kept very clean, and the pool is really nicely done; it is beautifully lit at night. My room was simple but large and clean, and so was the bathroom. I enjoyed the food there, and they served a good breakfast. Going back to Shiyam, he made sure that I had food that agreed with me and never hesitated in modifying the menu or the dish to fit my special diet. I had to shorten my stay by one day, and he and the front desk had no issue with it. I offered to pay for the night anyway, but they declined. They arranged safe transportation for me to my next stay over, and, later, Shiyam checked that I had arrived well. In short, I do recommend this hotel.

Lavendish Lake Giritale is located in the Ancient City of Polanaruwa, overlooking the beautiful Giritale Lake. Stunning location. Wonderful views. Comfortable rooms. Helpful kind staff. Good food we took the half board option and were not disappointed. Good value and a great place for elephant safari.

The Deer Park Hotel is located on the banks of Giritale Reservoir, 10 km from Polonnaruwa Wihara. The stylish 5-star hotel offers an outdoor pool, 4 dining options and free parking. The property is one of the best ones I have ever stayed in Sri Lanka. You feel luxurious as soon as you enter in, where the staff welcomes you to light up the oil to feel at home. The hotel has also kept the nature around, building houses around trees and including them in the design. It looks like a town village where you can go around and discover new and beautiful corners at every step. There is even a bathtub facing the lake of Giritale and you can enjoy a bath with an incredible view. The staff is super helpful and the food was delicious! We had buffet dinner there and we enjoyed every plate. The breakfast was also really delicious!
