Offering a restaurant, Mansala Safari Resort is located in Udawalawe and provides a 24-hour front desk for the convenience of the guests. Free WiFi access is available. Mansala is a lovely, family owned Guesthouse. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and have great beds. They offer game drives with a great guide who is very knowledgeable. Be careful because many of the “guides” are simply drivers and know little about the animals and birds. The dinners at Mansala were just amazing. The hostess is an amazing chef and her meals will impress you. The breakfasts are good, but the star is the evening meal. The owners are kind, gracious, helpful and want to leave you impressed.

If you are debating about where to stay near Udawalawe, no doubt, book here. They are recently opened so limited reviews but it’s a charming safari bungalow, the only one on the property, with a beautiful garden and thoughtful dining area for guests. Speaking of dining, this will be the best, most prolific food you’ve had in Sri Lanka. They really thoughtfully accommodated my vegetarian and gluten free diet with ease. There is a lovely river near the property you can explore and enjoy reading and relaxing between safari journeys and be well taken care of. They coordinated our safari, which was incredible! So many up close elephant encounters!, and helped us with transportation to them and away, making the whole experience care free and enjoyable. If you can enjoy a rustic safari cabin experience (well, not so rustic because there is a/c 😆) while being cared for by the sweetest family then look no further and enjoy Green Paradise.

Absolutely spotless property with the most amazing staff and food! The Sri Lankan curry and Sri Lankan breakfast were incredible and the portion sizes were huge. The added extras were a bonus such as the complimentary 10 minute massage, the welcome drink, afternoon tea and mocktail with dinner. The location was perfect for safari. The staff were so accommodating and friendly!! The attention to detail at this hotel was fabulous, we could not understand how they manage to keep everything so clean and pristine but they do. We both agreed that this is one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had!!

This was truly one of the best accomodations I‘ve ever stayed in! The garden view room was absolutely gorgeous and so clean you could eat off the floor. Comfortable big beds you want to snuggle into, coffee making facilities right in your room (Kettle, cups, sugar), and truly the highlight of it all, an outdoor bathroom! I was very reluctant to leave after my stay here, I really felt like my emotional wellbeing has been fully restored after a few bad hotel experiences prior. For this price, you absolutely cannot beat it. The food was lovely and the host very kind and accommodating. So if you‘re planning to stay in Udawalawe, this is the place!

City Elephant is ideally situated for getting to the park, right on the main drag through town. The owners are super friendly. My room was large with a good bed and good AC. The restaurant out by the street looks unassuming, but DO eat there...these guys cook beautifully. I had a rice/curry lunch that was just lovely.

We booked it completely exhausted when we were 5 minutes away from the place, and when we arrived, there was no one, but in about 30s Marjan arrived on his motorbike telling us that he lives 5min away and came straight when he saw a new booking. He instantly made us feel welcome and made us welcome fresh drinks. Since they also had a jeep, they offered us a morning Safari for a great price, which was absolutely stunning. When we came back, we received another complimentary fresh juice! Marjan was absolutely wonderful. We asked for lunch and he went above and beyond and cooked us multiple wonderul meals we couldn't even finish. The place was very clean, and truly a great experience! However! When looking for the place, look for signs, as google maps doesn't actually have the street that its on in its maps. The signs showed us the way - google maps was wrong.
