When my driver edged up the narrow-inclined driveway of this very modern home, I didn’t know what to expect. But Pearle and her husband Ranjan greeted me with broad smiles and open arms. After they had retired, they built this sophisticated home on their family’s property. Since the terrain of Matale is mostly mountainous, their home is perched up high on a small hill, allowing a beautiful view of the city from their wide terrace. Communication was swift and efficient as their daughter fielded email questions from the UK. English was spoken perfectly by all members of the family, so no worries for any miscommunication. I had arrived in the late afternoon and Pearle offered me tea. Ranjan returned with some short eats and we sat around chatting. The conversation was easy and I felt like I was visiting good friends for the afternoon. My room was located just off their living room with an adjacent bathroom with contemporary fixtures – it felt like I was in a fancy hotel! The stylish room with extremely high ceilings was spacious and tastefully decorated with an enormous mosquito net tied with ribbons around the large four poster bed. There is a portable air conditioner/fan which was not really needed as the evenings are usually cool and temperate. Breakfast was a luxurious feast with red rice string hoppers, potato curry, dal, green gram and a delicious, spicy chicken curry. Watermelon, pineapple, and sweet juicy papaya from their garden rounded out the meal. After retirement, Pearle turned her interests to cooking and she is certainly an accomplished cook! My only regret was staying only one night and will certainly come back for a longer visit!

The hotel is beautiful and extremely peaceful. It is a bit outside the main town, which makes it a perfect place to stay if you want to be immersed in nature and more secluded from the crowds. It is a pretty short drive to Sigyria and Pidurangala Rock. The rooms are large, beautiful, very clean and comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and all the food was excellent. There is a lovely observation deck where you can watch the sunrise, play cards and relax with a cup of tea. There is a beautiful view of both Sigyria and Pidurangala Rock from the observation deck, and this was a highlight for us. Everyone working at the hotel is very kind and wants to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Highly recommend - we would definitely stay here again!

Na miejscu można również skorzystać z lekcji jogi w specjalnie przygotowanym do tego miejscu na świeżym powietrzu. Pod oknami jest też basen z czystą wodą i komfortowymi leżakami. Bajka!

Magnificent treatment, super clean, good location. The hotel owner was really helpful and friendly at all times. Another advantage was that there were bikes available for renting. We had the best experience biking around Sigiriya and Pirindugala, watching the temples and wonderful views from the lake. 1000% recommended!

The Room is very nice, there is a Nice Garden and also a Nice view with Balcony ! The room was very beautiful with a balcony and a perfect view on Lion Rock. The service was great as well! Everyone was so nice and helpful and everything was taken care of. They organised activites for us and also a taxi to the airport. We will come back for sure when we are in Sigiriya :)

Właścicielka otworzyła go dla nas nawet jak przyjechaliśmy o 5 nad ranem z lotniska. Pokoje czyste i zadbane. Czasem na ścianach można zobaczyc chodzące małe jaszczurki. właścicielka miła i pomocna. Zrobiła pyszne regionalne śniadanie, poleciła nam TucTuca żeby pojechać na Lwią Skałę i zorganizowała wyjazd na Safari do Hurulu.

Apparently we were their 20th visit and even then, the properly looks brand new! So clean, so beautifully built, the AC is amazing and the bathroom is lovely. The shower has hot & cold water. Also a lovely sitting area in the garden. The breakfast was yummy too. The family who owns this place is so sweet and extremely helpful. They organized us a cooking class, gave us tips when we needed it and made our stay extra special.

If you're staying in Sigiriya and looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, birds, palm trees, and rice fields, then Paddy View Cabana is the perfect place for you. We spent 3 days there, and although it’s a bit outside the town and requires transport to the center, once you see the natural surroundings and the thoughtfully designed accommodation, that won’t bother you at all. The host is always there for you, ready to help with anything – organizing tours at more affordable prices, recommending what to visit and where to eat – and you truly feel at home. He also prepared a variety of traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts for us, which were absolutely delicious. Thank you once more for everything!

It is located at a perfect place, quiet and serene, but also not too far from the major attractions, making it an ideal spot for touring the area. The host, Dinuka, was very kind and attentive to make sure everything was fine. Accommodation was comfortable, clean, and perfect to rest after touring in the day. If you want a convenient and cozy place to stay in Sigiriya, I really recommend Coconut Shade Resort!
