Nice hotel, room was decent size but the bed wasn't comfortable (made some awful noises when turning over). Evening meal and breakfast was average pub grub. Very expensive for what we got. It was missing the little details.

The location was perfect for hiking in and around the area. The staff, the room, the evening meal and breakfast were all exceptional!
Amazing value for money.
The building itself with the backdrop of the mountains was truly breathtaking.
Highly recommended.
Will definitely be going back.

Great room with fantastic breakfast, ideal parking and location was perfect, as I was staying over for my nephew's wedding, the next day. The hostess was very pleasant and her partner was very helpful, when I had a query.

Cockermouth is a pretty town with many buildings of interest. Wordsworth's birthplace is there, but it is closed in winter.
The rivers Cocker and Derwent flow through the town with banks of daffodils in spring.
Plenty of small shops, restaurants and traditional pubs as well as two supermarkets.

We were here to visit a relative and have been several times before so know the area pretty well. Plenty of places to eat or Get a drink, (alcoholic or otherwise).
Supermarkets handily placed and lots of independent shops with a side range of goods.

A terrific little town, great local shops, interesting Wordsworth Museum. Pic of us dressing up in Museum! Good town centre parking. Lots of pubs and places to eat. There's even a theatre. The whole place is old but very interestingly pictureque. We will make a habit of coming back

Cockermouth has potential but is in need of more eateries, we stayed 3 nights and struggled to find anywhere nice for meals. The Bush is a lovely pub with good food but that's all we had to choose in the area.

Broughton Craggs is a few miles from Cockermouth and well...
Broughton Craggs is a few miles from Cockermouth and well placed for the Northern fringe of the Lake District. I was walking some of the English Coast Path from Bowness on Solway to St Bees and the location was fine for doing that stretch in bits.
Loved the location just back from Cockermouth main st. It was quiet and easy to walk through to the shops. There is an amazing butcher which backs on to the apartment. The unit has most things one needs for self catering. Basic but available. It is a great base for walks and tours around the Lake District. The Cumberland sausage from the butcher is superb. There is parking on site which is a bonus. Access is interesting to say the least. Big cars will be challenged. Done once it becomes easier. Oh have I mentioned the butcher?
A beautiful renovation of this historic property, the rooms really are very special. The hotel is very central for all of the towns shops, bars and restaurants and it is a lovely area to visit.
Breakfast was included at the excellent cafe just a couple of doors away and free car parking is also available about 150 metres away.
The rooms have everything you need and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was also sparkling clean.
Self check in is very easy and the communications from the owners is very good.
The room was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a lovely night's stay. Very cosy living space with comfy sofa. The kitchen and bathroom were all new and nicely kept. The host was really nice and friendly too. The place is set in lovely and peaceful countryside, yet very easy to get to from the main roads. It's also perfect for dogs, as our dog is reactive to sounds in hotels/b&b's etc but as the walls are so thick and it's so quiet, he slept through without barking.
Excellent location for exploring Lakeland, especially the much overlooked Western Lake District. Cockermouth (2 miles away) is a very pleasant town and a good shopping centre, and much quieter than the touristy towns such as Keswick.
A lovely shower with plenty of hot water and space.
The convenience of a dishwasher.
Private parking right by the apartment.
A genial host who could not have been more welcoming and helpful.
Hidden gem, based in the centre of Cockermouth, just off the main street, with lots of choice of restaurants and pubs. Set in a quiet courtyard, this character property has been tastefully renovated and decorated, very comfortable, with both bedrooms having an en-suite and modern appliances in the kitchen. Good location for the Lake District but away from the crowds.
The hotel's location in centre of Cockermouth almost opposite Wordsworth House and close to shops and cafes is ideal. Breakfast is substantial and varied with many choices. Dinner always cooked fresh to order with a good choice and so tasty. Our room, looking out to the High Street was comfortable with two single beds, settee and arm chair. Good sized bathroom.
The hotel is very country manor from the outside, really gorgeous so to walk into what really needs a good makeover was very disappointing. The breakfast and dinner area looks like a wedding had taken place a good few days before hand and there was no time to fix it up or get it up to standard. The music was great and the views were exquisite.
Friendly staff and excellent welcome. Great restaurant with good choices on the menu and fantastic breakfast. The hotel is well located for exploring the local countryside. We first stayed here 41 years ago in 1983, we liked it then and still liked it. The hotel has been updated but still retains the charm it had all those years ago.
Beautiful decorated, charming, plenty of space in the garden, everything was properly functional, kitchen was well appointed, beds were comfortable. Appreciated the two separate living areas. The town is adorable and has some interesting places that are walkable. The grocery and restaurants were walkable, though the way is quite hilly.
Good location near to the centre
Fairly spacious property
The host was helpful when we couldn’t work the tv and removed all the rubbish of the previous guests when I asked where I could get rid of it to
It was quite clean generally
Great the fact dog was made welcome and even left some treats for him!!
Everything was perfect was nice to be greeted and shown round by Phillipa given the keys and contact number if any problems talked about the local area where I discovered 2 old quarrys to walk the dogs and felt like home from home.
Lovely staff - helpful, friendly.
A couple of issues that couldn't be anticipated by hotel but were dealt with promptly and efficiently.
Very good meals. Comfortable room with plenty of space.
Would most definitely stay again.
Great location for the town & the wider area. Property was comfortable, decor tasteful & had everything you could want. Kitchen well equipped - including functional kitchen knives (which are a rarity !)
historic, large property, clean, fully equipped and a special treat delivered part way thru our stay! We used this as a base to hike/explore the Lake District and it worked beautifully.
Staff were excellent, special mention to Kane who couldn't do enough for us. It's a family run hotel, with the friendliness you'd hope for.
Evening meal was great.
Breakfast was very good. Lots of it. The hotel only a short distance in car to Cockermouth which is lovely with lots of restaurants and plenty of places to walk.
